All About Gulf Shores Gulf Shores, AL Real Estate

Gulf Shores is the larger of Alabama’s two beach towns and has plenty of things to offer in addition to just sand and water. Baldwin County’s only zoo, the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo (website here), is located in Gulf Shores and is an amazing way to spend the day. It offers hands-on experiences that most other zoos don’t, like bottle feeding baby tigers or playing with kangaroos. The Factory (website here) is an indoor trampoline park that offers a great way to burn some energy on a rainy day. If the surf is a little rough, there’s always Waterville USA (website here). In addition to go karts, video games, and water slides, Waterville now boasts the Flowrider where you can practice your surfing skills and they also recently completed an all-new escape room.

Golf lovers need not worry either. With 6 courses to choose from, there’s always a tee time available from the public course to the high-end Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club as well as Kiva Dunes. If nature is your thing, there’s Gulf State Park located directly between Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. The park offers so much including: cabins, camping sites, a nature center, pristine beaches, the largest pier of the entire Gulf of Mexico, and over 25 miles of nature trails and bike paths.

Popular restaurants include Acme Oyster House, Gulf Shores Diner, Sunset Cork Room, as well as dozens of others. With so many great places to eat, it’s hard to go wrong! A new addition to Gulf Shores is the Big Beach Brewing Company. Aside from offering unique, locally brewed specialties like the Mango Shark, it’s just a really cool, laid back place to hang out and play some corn hole.

History buffs will get a kick out of visiting Fort Morgan. Built following the War of 1812, the fort saw action in the Civil War’s Battle of Mobile Bay and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1960. Another fun thing to do is to take the nearby Mobile Bay ferry from Fort Morgan to Dauphin Island, which boasts its own Civil War fort as well as an amazing sea lab.

No discussion of Gulf Shores would be complete without mentioning the beaches though. Alabama’s white sand beaches offer the perfect spot to play volleyball, go parasailing, rent jet skis, or just lay out and relax with your favorite drink in-hand. The Hangout, located directly on the beach, has hosted some of the biggest names in music with concerts literally on the sand.

Truly, Gulf Shores has something for everyone!
